An example of a place I like to be

Hi, my name is Megan Schaeffer. I grew up in Maryland and currently live in Atlanta.

My time is spent working in the arts --- helping to develop a community that supports artists and creative individuals.

I don't make a lot of art myself, but when I do, I love craft-based things like rug punching and making stuff out of clay.

My other hobbies include ripping it up on the dance floor, traveling, and drinking coffee & red wine. My family owns and operates a small but mighty piano company in Rockville, MD, which is coming up on 120 years in business.

Since June 2017, I have created and grown public programs under the Art Farm brand. I produce and host the Art Over Dinner series, celebrating my 20th dinner in August 2019. I manage a gallery exhibit program which includes selecting artists, curating and coordinating installation, developing and implementing marketing strategy including all design work, and facilitating sales. In May of 2018, I helped to open the Art Farm Studio, which currently coordinates a regular schedule of art + craft based workshops for all ages, ranging from hand built ceramics to corporate painting events.

From September 2015 to June 2017 my job was to research and maintain correspondence with artists from all over the world, tracking art fairs and gallery exhibitions, developing Soho's base of artists contracted on their projects. I developed concept presentations for clients by creating custom art packages for commercial properties, including restaurants, luxury cruise ships, and hotel properties. In my two years at Soho, my role role also included logistical management, including invoicing, purchase orders, and installation coordination.

In my role at Jericho (from early 2014 to late 2015) I curated and installed contemporary art exhibitions on a bi-monthly basis. Alongside Josh Silverman, former CEO and Founder of Jericho, I organized and facilitated all events and programming including corporate events, openings, and music performances in the space. I coordinated marketing efforts for Jericho, Inc. as a financial practice including website design & redevelopment, newsletters, social media management, other advertising efforts.

As Outreach Coordinator, I attended community events (city meetings, farmers markets, conferences, festivals) and formed relationships with organizations and schools in tri-county Charleston to generate outside sales and encourage arts advocacy. As an associate working in store, I provided art material knowledge and superior customer service to customers. I worked for Artist & Craftsman Supply during and after college, both in Charleston and in New York City helping to develop their Harlem location, from 2010 to 2015.
